(Transportation-News.com, October 25, 2012 ) San Diego, California— Attorney Frederick M. Dudek of the Dudek Law Firm, APC, participated in the Bike MS Bay to Bay Tour 2012 to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. On October 21 and 22, the two day ride allowed cyclists to travel 15, 30, 100 or 150 miles across Southern California to raise money and awareness for the organization. This was Dudek’s seventh consecutive year riding in the event, and he rode 100 miles after raising money for the National MS Society. The start line was in Irving, and participants either rode individually or in teams. The finish line festival was in Carlsbad for day one and Mission Bay for day two. Riders participating in both days stayed at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa or at a camping site nearby at South Carlsbad State Beach.
Multiple Sclerosis affects more than 2.1 million people worldwide and approximately 400,000 people in the United States. MS is a chronic inflammatory disease that inhibits movement. Nearly twice as many women are diagnosed with MS as men, and the life expectancy of those with MS is 5 to 10 years less than average. The National MS Society devoted over $136 million in 2011 to treating MS and another $50 million towards MS research.
“This cycling event makes a substantial contribution to MS research,” said Dudek. “It is very inspiring to see people with MS volunteering to help stage this huge event, which includes approximately 2,500 cyclists, riding along the Southern California coast for two days.”
Dudek is an avid cyclist who enjoys raising money and awareness for causes such as this. Dudek is an advocate for cycling safety.
