  • Ferguson Knows Key to Packed-Schedule Success reports Football Ticket Net

(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 29, 2012 ) Madrid, Spain -- Alex Ferguson, the longtime manager of Manchester United, has seen his share of festive features, and thus knows rotation within tight schedules is key to a winning side for such occasions.

A disappointing 1-1 draw at Swansea City on Sunday had the United faithful watch their lead at the top cut by a four-point margin over Manchester City.

Ferguson can take it to heart that Newcastle have not won a match at Old Trafford stadium since 1972, back when it was an old first-division league.

Ferguson has to feel good about the return of key defenders as well, as Nemanja Vidic is set to make his way back to the pitch after nursing an injury. John Evans is also set to return.

"We now have three games in the next nine days," said Vidic. "Obviously we have a few players who are coming back from injury and they will be important for that period."

Fergus stayed true to his claim and was about to utilize his squad properly over the holiday season, with his 26th different back-five combination on the season.

United has had their share of problems at defense, and it is reflected in the 25 goals that have been thus far conceded. That concession marks the highest of any team topping the Premier League at the Christmas break since the 1992/93 season, when Norwich had conceded 34 at the break.

That faltering in the back has not persuaded Ferguson to panic. When asked about the build-up to the Swansea match, the Cot told Manchester United Television: "Absolutely. No doubt. It won't be the same team in any of these games. There will be changes each game."
