  • Michigan Tops Another Auto-Insurance Cost List reports Car Insurance Promotional Codes

(Transportation-News.com, April 01, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Michigan is now near the top of another nationwide ranking for auto-insurance rates. The state has ranked second on the list on Insurance.com's list for average auto insurance rates based on the general cost of insurance for 2013 model cars. The demographic used for the study was a single 40-year-old man that held a clean driving record who commutes 12 miles both to and from work.

The averaged auto rates for over 750 vehicles models, all from the six larger insurance companies in the zip code were used. It came up that with an average premium of $2,520 in Michigan, the state with the highest total was Louisiana's rate of $2,699.

Michigan is now the only state to offer unlimited lifetime medical for all auto-related injuries under its current form of no-fault insurance. The policy holders pay an extra $175 per insured vehicle, and are given protection benefits following the exceeding of $500,000 per claim.

Governor Rick Snyder and other lawmakers had been pushing hard for shifts in an effort to curbed the rising insurance costs. Legislation has now been introduced in the state senate that would place a cap on PIP coverage at $50,000. It also dissolved the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association.

The report form the 2012 from CarInsuranceQuotes.com showed that Michigan residents were paying higher portions of their overall salaries for car insurance than other state residents.

“If things keep going as they are now, then Michigan drivers can expect to continue to have painful car insurance bills,” said Amy Danise, editorial director for the independent consumer information site.

Meanwhile, the Coalition Protecting Auto No-Fault, which stands in opposition of the efforts to limit personal injury benefits, has taken issue with the websites' reports, stating that they use only new-model cars. The coalition claims that leads to skewed results.
