The best organizer for your bucks!
1. Flashlight - Compact handy LED flashlights are really bright and don't take up much space in the glove box or your trunk organizer. They come in very handy as one can hold one in the mouth when both hands are needed to change a tire or open a fuse box on a dark night.
2. Tire-pressure gauge and high volume tire inflator. Did you know that low tire pressure can cause dangerous blowouts? Also, tires underinflated by only 6 lbs per square inch can reduce fuel economy by 5% and reduce tread life by 25%. With a high volume tire inflator, one can inflate tires in no time.
3. First-aid kit - For those minor injuries that are not serious enough to dial 911, a few bandages, gauze, tape, disinfectant, tweezers, ibuprofen, and motion sickness pill do the trick. One can buy a basic first aid kit and ready to handle minor cuts and scrapes while on the road, especially if traveling with kids.
4. Owner's manual - Checking if the owner's manual is in the car is highly recommended. Why? Because it is a must-have for that day you might need to look up how to reset the clock or need to know what type of light bulb your backlights need. If it ismissing, a replacement can be ordered through a dealer.
5. Tire-changing tools- Particularly for used cars owners, it's wise to check that all the pieces of the jack and other tools one needs to change a flat tire are actually in the car. Did you check if there is actually a spare tire? It is wise to check if it is properly inflated as it could save a lot of time when a blowout happens.
6. Warning triangles - A set of triangle warning reflectors don't take up that much space and fit nicely in the trunk or a handy trunk organizer. 7. 8. Garbage bags – Keep a few large, heavy-duty plastic trash bags in the trunk. Why? They can be used to cover the muddy ground when one needs to change a tire in the rain, as an improvised poncho or as an emergency seat cover under a wet dog or soiled child.
9. Jumper cables or those high power car battery jumpstarter - One day you will turn the ignition key and hear the dreaded silence. A dead battery is not a disaster if one has a set of jumper cables and a friend to call or have that jumpstarter in the trunk. It is recommended to regularly charge the battery jumpstarter.
10. Tape - A big roll of traditional duct tape can repair a lot of things and solve a lot of issues one might not even think about beforehand. One can use duct tape and a sheet of plastic to cover a broken window or secure a dangling tail pipe, just to give a few samples.
