  • EmergingSmallCaps.com: Could Vision's Tyrano Truck Actually Save Our Soldiers?

(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 19, 2010 ) CARLSBAD, CA - Recent events have generated additional excitement amongst investors and individuals following Vision Industries (OTCBB: VIIC) and commercialization potential of their Tyrano Truck; now the world's first street legal, emission-free, hydrogen/electric hybrid truck. Enthusiasm hinges on the true potential of the agreement with the Port of Los Angeles alone, which has approximately 31,000 trucks enter daily. This news may also be of interest to investors in FedEx (NYSE: FDX), Force Protection (NASDAQ: FRPT), and Quantum Fuel Systems Technology (NASDAQ: QTWW).

A widely underestimated benefit of Vision's Tyrano has emerged on the heels of today's news. Lost in the argument in support of hydrogen vehicles is the lack of a distinct heat signature, the extremely low sound emission produced from their revolutionary engines, and the reduction in volume of convoys should the Department of Defense implement hydrogen/electric hybrids. They are far less detectable to enemy reconaissance or technology, thus safer to transport supplies or personnel. Eliminating the need to transport fossil fuels further entrenches the value of the hydrogen-fuel solution.

According to a report issued by the Army Environmental Policy Institute, titled 'Sustain the mission project: casualty factors for fuel and water resupply convoys,' studies are establishing a strong relationship between fuel consumption and casualty rates. For more details, please visit this February 26, 2010 article provided by ArmyTechnology.com. According to this article, which compiles data from several reports, every 55,702 barrels of fuel burned in Afghanistan alone corresponds to at least one US Military casualty; or one casualty per 24 fuel convoys. Further, it estimates that convoys in Afghanistan and Iraq break down to approximately 50% fuel, 20% water, and 30% for other supplies or needs.

One could surmise that, if the US Department of Defense were to replace the antiquated, over-used fleet of administrative and tactical vehicles with sustainable, emission-free, hydrogen- fueled solutions similar to Vision's Tyrano -- it could literally save the lives of thousands of United States soldiers throughout the world. Add to that the long-term cost savings for our government and the positive environmental impact; it simply makes sense to implement or test Vision's viable technology.

To capitalize on this underserved market which is in dire need of cutting-edge technology, Vision has announced a teaming agreement with Burtek, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rabintex (Televiv: RBTXF). Under the teaming agreement, Burtek will help market Vision's Tyrano truck, and will explore other potential applications of their proprietary hydrogen fuel solutions across United States Department of Defense channels.

In response to a recent USMC Systems Command solicitation, Vision plans to feature the Tyrano and their hydrogen solution at MCB Quantico, VA, and related exhibits in the Washington, DC area. Both events are slated for this fall.

Nearly a month ago today, Vision Industries announced their first purchase order from the Port of Los Angeles. Should this test prove fruitful for the Port, which is a multi-billion dollar business, it could eventually lead to a broad-scale implementation. By working with established defense contractor Burtek, and with their previously announced tests with FedEx and Port of Los Angeles, Vision Industries has now drawn several routes on the map that could lead to a large fleet of Vision Industries' trucks or vehicles on the open road every day.

Information contained within this report was collected from the Port of Los Angeles website, the aforementioned Army-Technology.com article, "Sustain the mission project" by the Army Environmental Policy Institute, a November 2009 report by Deloitte titled "Energy security – America's best defense; a study of increasing dependence on fossil fuels in wartime, and its contribution to ever higher casualty rates," and from Vision Industries' public information.
