 (EMAILWIRE.COM, October 14, 2011 ) New York, NY -- Software developer Kookaburra Studios has launched AppCobra, a software tool which allows anyone to create apps for any of the major smartphone and tablet platforms – on a PC, and without requiring programming skills.
AppCobra can be used in the Windows environment to create apps for iPhones and iPads, Android and Android Honeycomb to HP webOS, RIM’s Blackberry and smart TVs –and can be downloaded from the www.appcobra.com site.
Kookaburra Studios, best known for their KnowledgePresenter group of products, announced the release of AppCobra in the US and Canada today. KnowledgePresenterÂ’s North American clients for its software training programs include the U.S. Army, New York City Transit Department, Avon, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Lockheed Martin.
“AppCobra’s main end-user market will be in the business, education and entertainment sectors,” David Webster, Managing Director of Kookaburra Studios, said today.
“Anyone with basic computer skills using a Windows PC can now create their own apps for a wide range of smart phones and tablets without requiring technical programming skills by using the AppCobra development tool. Video and audio can also be included in the AppCobra developed apps.”
The product will retail for US$895.00 from the www.appcobra.com website. Mr. Webster said whether itÂ’s your favourite footy team, movie star or pop singer, or as an educational or business app, you can design and create your own and have it up and running on your phone or tablet device within 15 minutes.
“AppCobra works on PC’s in a visual drag and drop environment. It’s very much a what-you-see-is-what-you-get approach,” Mr. Webster said.
“AppCobra is a flexible software tool for creating apps for catalogues, medical services, software simulations, quizzes, assessments, ebooks, training, photo libraries and simple games.

HTML5, WebKit CSS, simple and advanced swiping, scrolling, indexing, thumbnails, PowerPoint imports, e-book features and accelerometer/orientation/geolocation support are all included in the AppCobra package.
A range of clipart is also provided with the product. AppCobra is designed specifically to generate interactive, highly graphical informational and educational games.
An API is included, allowing programmers using the software to enhance and customize apps even further.
Various interactive abilities, such as asking questions (like multiple choice, fill in the blanks, drop-down lists) can be presented to the user and scored as the created app is running.
This allows not only information to be presented, but also allows assessments, tests, and training to be presented and scored by the app.
