 (EMAILWIRE.COM, November 29, 2011 ) New York, NY -- Moneyball, the critically acclaimed movie that was released in theaters September 2011 will be out on DVD and blu-ray in early 2012. Moneyball is a biographical sports film based on Michael LewisÂ’ 2003 book of the same name. It follows Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland AÂ’s and his controversial way of scouting players that ultimately changed the course of the teamÂ’s 2002 season as well as the entire game of baseball.
The Moneyball movie is less about baseball and baseball statistics than it is about what drives people to take risks. Being on a tight budget, Billy Beane who is played by Brad Pitt with the help of Peter Brand who is played by Jonah Hill, uses statistics to find underachieving athletes with hidden strengths to produce a winning season. Directed by Bennet Miller and with a phenomenal supporting cast that includes Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robin Wright, this film resonated with audiences and critics alike.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced the Moneyball release date will be on January 10, 2012 for both DVD and blu-ray. The DVD will includes additional features such as “Billy Beane: Re-inventing the Game,” “Moneyball: Playing the Game,” and the blooper “Brad Pitt Loses It.” The blu-ray version contains even more features including “Drafting the Team,” “Adapting Moneyball,” and the Moneyball PS3 wallpaper/theme.
