  • Former Golden Corral Operator Jailed for Withholding 320,000 Dollars in Taxes reports CorralAdvisor.com

(Transportation-News.com, September 29, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- This week in North Cornwall Township, the former operator of a Golden Corral restaurant received his sentence for failing to submit taxes. The operator neglected to show funds to the state for the restaurant and two other ventures.

On Wednesday, Charles P. Alario was sentenced to the Lebanon County Prison by a judge.

Alario was sentenced to a prison term of three months to two years on a total of 33 counts of theft because of his failure to submit the required taxes and payments to the state.

Judge Samuel A. Kline also ordered Alario to “pay fines of $3,300 and restitution of more than $600,000,“ according to the Lebanon Daily News. Alario failed to turn over to the state more than $320,000 in sales and taxes to the Golden Corral restaurant on Quentin Road he operated. He also was ordered by the judge to pay “more than $216,500 for another Golden Corral he operated in Bensalem, as well as $82,000 for a company called Truthco Inc. that he operated,” stated the Daily News.

The State Attorney General’s Office also states that Alario did not submit to the state Department of Revenue for the North Cornwall Township taxes for the restaurant from October 2006 to February 2008. Despite efforts of his defense attorney, Alario was denied probation by the judge. His offenses prevented probation under the terms of his sentencing.

During his sentencing, Alario said that his goals were to “offer jobs and career opportunities.” He also stated to the court that he gave jobs to people that new little to no English and even helped bring their families from Mexico.

He also claimed that the recession affected his business greatly and that he was just doing everything he could to keep the business open and people employed. The judge did not buy his claims and said “that is theft, you can’t sugarcoat it.”
