Collex Collision Auto Body Shop in Clinton Township

(Transportation-News.com, January 10, 2013 ) Clinton Township, MI – Collex Collision Experts’ owner, John Gagliano, is proud of the work that they do through Wheels of Hope, a non-profit organization that gives back to the communities where their 15 auto body shops are located.

Their mission is to “create good will at the local level by uniting company staff, city officials, and local businesses to help deserving families by giving them a like-new vehicle. In the article, Gagliano is quoted as saying “when we check out, we take nothing with us from life…so the key is: what are we going to do while we’re here?”

Wheels of HOPE has delivered HOPE to many families since 2005. Their goal is simply to repair damaged vehicles at one of their auto body repair facilities, bringing them back to “like-new” condition, and then give them to deserving families that are in desperate need of transportation. Their Primary candidates are working single parents. For more information on Wheels of HOPE, visit http://www.collex.com/ or call 888-426-5539.

“Since we opened, we always were involved in the community any way we could…” Gagliano said. “…one day we had this situation where we knew of someone who really needed a vehicle. They were struggling. They were someone that, that if they had a car, it would open up so many things in their lives. We were able to help.”

In 2006, Wheels of HOPE gave away its first two vehicles. The following year the program was expanded by doubling the number of vehicles given away. Collex Collision acquires the vehicles from various sources: some are purchased by Collex Collision and others are donated by groups or individuals.

Collex Collision’s certified auto body technicians donate their time and professional skills to bring the vehicles to a “like-new” condition. When these vehicles are donated to the deserving families, they bring back HOPE and thus the name given was Wheels of HOPE. “Officially, we’ve done 35 cars as an organization,” Gagliano said. “The goal now with 15 shops is for each shop to do one vehicle each year.”

In the article Gagliano went on to tell about one of his employees, Monica Langlois at their Clinton Township auto body shop who collects cans and bottles from employees at the shops to raise money to provide insurance and fuel cards to the ones to which they provide the vehicles. “She does this on her own, and raises thousands every month,” he said.

For the Wheels of HOPE program, there is a stringent application and selection process. Collex’s goal is to identify individuals who want to improve their lives and be self-supporting members of society. For more information on Wheels of HOPE, visit their website or call 888-426-5539.
