(Transportation-News.com, March 14, 2013 ) Cleveland, OH -- Companies subscribing to Israel Post's “business to business distribution” courier services are now being charged 50%, effective at the start of this month. Only those located outside the country's main population centers will be affected. Rates were previously universal throughout the country, but the new fees have put an end to that trend.
Businesses in over 50 localities including: Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Kfar Sava, and Kafr Qasem will continue to pay NIS 26 before value-added tax that is on 50 to 100 items per month. Still, those in places that include Rehovot, Hadera, Haifa, Tiberias, and Nazareth will be charged NIS 28 for the identical service. Businesses in remote locations will be required to pay an extra NIS 2.
The price moves up to NIS 39 for locations that are remote and small within the furthest regions of the area. It will still be three full business days for packages to arrive at the destinations, according to the national post service company. Those items sent from less remote regions are delivered the following business day.
Courier services offered by Israel's postal company is now seeing competition and thus is not subject to government regulations at this time.
"Israel Post offers its customers the best price in the market," responded the government-owned company. "It was decided to change the way pricing is set according to travel distances due to discrepancies between the inputs invested for each delivery and the existing price."
