  • Car Buyers will Sacrifice Private Information to Avoid Salespeople

(Transportation-News.com, May 26, 2013 ) England, UK -- Conducted by Cisco Systems’ Cisco Consumer Experience Report, a new study shows that car buyers think that sacrificing privacy (sometimes a lot of privacy), technology will save them the headache of dealing with salespeople, making purchasing a vehicle easier and cheaper.

According to the study, 1,514 consumer participants ranging ten countries, customers were more likely to consider using technology to buy cars and arrange an appointment for dealer services and provide those dealers private information it will give them a discount or cheaper interest rates.

83% of the global participants said they preferred researching vehicle and purchase information online rather than going to a dealer in person. In the United States, consumers were more apt to use third party sites to find information about vehicles, while consumers in India and Brazil are more likely to trust the manufacturer’s website on the vehicles they are interested in.

Even if human salespeople were available, participants said they would be more comfortable using tech to purchase a car.

An average of 50% said they would feel the most comfortable with an interactive kiosk even if they had the option to talk to a real person. Another average of 55% of respondents said they would feel alright with using a videoconferencing session for the entire process.

Lastly, 64% of the participants said they would use a fully automated dealer to make a purchase.
