(Transportation-News.com, June 15, 2013 ) England, UK -- The Society of Motor Traders and Manufacturers released a re-forecasting of its new car sales estimates for the coming year. The figures were described as 'tonic' by the Unicom Insurance company regarding dealerships nationwide.
The numbers for 2013 surpass the 2012 totals by 3%, with the SMMT new car sales forecast sitting at over 2.1 million. The numbers also project diesel-powered vehicles taking up almost half of all sales for the 2013 fiscal year. Unicom has confirmed the forecast is clearly good news for all dealers and should pave the way for a strong 2014, if trends remain on target.
The 2014 fiscal year is said to see 2.123 million sold and diesel cars will again be nearly half of all sales. The revisions have come after April saw a considerable rise in new car registrations in Great Britain.
The coming revision will then surface in the late July or early August numbers, increasing sales are said to likely continue up to that point. When it comes to continental sales, the new registrations have jumped for the first time since mid-2012, while still being low for the time of year.
A spokesperson for the Unicom company stated: "The market for new car sales in Britain has been healthy and consistent for the last year or so. It's been a bit of a 'roll' to say the least and it's great to see the SMMT forecast an even more impressive total for 2013. Statistics like this can be such a tonic for dealers all over the country.”
