Video demo showing how to use a snow brush and ice scraper to clear snow and ice off a car, SUV

(Transportation-News.com, February 19, 2014 ) Dublin, Dublin -- Never-ending tailbacks and icy roads are not the only hazard motorists need to be wary of as winter storms batter the United States. Drivers in many states could be stopped and fined by law enforcement officers if they have failed to remove snow and ice before driving their vehicles. Thankfully help is at hand for drivers that want to avoid a penalty and potentially hurting other drivers or pedestrians. Keeping a Snow Brush and Ice Scraper at hand is one of the simplest, most user-friendly and most effective ways of tackling the problem. The "Ice Blade" from 'Arctic Warrior,' is a combination snow scraper tool that has recently been launched in response to the harsh winter storms that have hammered the U.S. this year.

Clearing a snow-laden car or SUV of snow and ice before setting off is important for the driver's visibility. But it is also important for the safety of other road users. Ice and snow falling from moving vehicles can be dangerous to drivers and pedestrians alike, and accidents are common. Melting ice sheets pose the most serious threat and can even shatter windshields. That's why Connecticut recently passed an "Ice Missile" law, that allows police offers to cite drivers who don't remove snow and ice from their vehicles. The fine for driving with snow and ice on your vehicle is $75, but if flying snow and ice injures a person or damages property the fine can reach $1,000 for non-commercial drivers and $1,250 for commercial drivers. States with similar laws include Washington, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Patrick Russell, founder of Arctic Warrior, said "Driving with snow or ice on your car is dangerous for other road users. States are beginning to punish drivers for not clearing their cars. We recommend using a snow brush and ice scraper before driving. We often see or hear of people using shovels to remove snow and boiling water to clear ice from cars, but these can easily result in damage to the vehicle or even personal injury. Using a tool that's fit for purpose is key if you want to have your car ready for the road quickly". The future will tell if more states will follow Connecticut in passing this type of law. But with winter storms continuing, all drivers are reminded to think of their fellow road users and clear that ice and snow before they go.
