Brian Pistotnik was born and raised in Wichita and has lived in Kansas his entire life. He attended Southeast High School graduating in 1980 in the top of his class. Brian attended Wichita State University for one year before transferring to the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. This college degree was earned in three and one half years and he was in the top 10% of his class. Brian received a full scholarship at the University of Oklahoma and was the Gulf Oil Scholar during his college career.
While in college, Brian witnessed an awful moped collision which resulted in terrible injuries to a young woman. This accident created a desire within Brian to pursue a law degree so that he could help injury victims recover for their losses. Brian attended the University of Kansas Law School, and graduated in the top 10% of his class receiving a Juris Doctorate degree in 1987. While in law school, Brian was a member of the Kansas Law Review and an assistant editor of the Kansas Criminal Law Review.
