  • The Mayan Star Co. Offers Information On Laws Governing Use Of Mobile Phones In Cars

(Transportation-News.com, June 25, 2015 ) San Diego, California -- The Mayan Star Co., maker of the popular Magnet-i-Car dashboard-mounted mobile device holders and other mobile accessories, is offering guidance about state laws affecting phone use in cars. Detailing their comments in a blog post, Driving vs Mobile phones – are you legal??, the company points out that many states in the US do not permit the use of windshield mounts for mobile devices. The post also notes that fines and penalties vary widely, with some states, such as Alaska, threatening a $10,000 fine and jail time for violation of phone mount regulations.

"This is a legal matter, but it's also a safety issue," said [spokesperson.] "We want our customers to be well informed, but more importantly, we want everyone to be safe. Our hope is that our guidance on state regulations will help consumers make the right choices about how they mount their phones in their cars – and how they use them when they're driving."

Mayan Star wants customers to understand that windshield mounts should be avoided in many states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, D.C., Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. California, the nation's most populous and auto-intensive state, has a law that prohibits a person from using their wireless phone while driving unless the phone is specifically designed and configured to allow hands-free use and is specifically used in such a manner while driving.

Mayan Star's Magnet-i-Car fits attaches to a car's dashboard air vent, making it permissible in almost every state that bans use of windshield mounts. The mount is designed to accommodate multiple devices, including mini-tablets and MP3 players. It offers adjustable angles and rotation to make phone user more ergonomic and safe for every driver. The mount retails for $22.95 but is available on sale for $13.95 on Amazon.com for a limited time. Use code MAGNET20
