The Screaming Banshee comes with all required mounting and wiring hardware. It can be wired as a standalone horn, or wired into the factory horn system. When triggered it emits a warbling screech that is rated at over 130 decibels. For comparison a loud emergency siren rates at around 130 decibels. Activation of the horn also triggers the flashing of the motorcycle or scooter high beams, to draw the attention of the alerted drivers. The horn can be heard inside the closed interior of a car cabin up to three blocks away.
"It's a two-step process and the Screaming Banshee does it perfectly," says Mr. Jepsen. "First you grab everyone's attention -- everyone, whether they're the one in your way or not -- then you show them where you are. When you fire this off everyone, on foot, in cars, in houses -- wherever they are -- is going to immediately try to find the source of the sound. They'll snap toward it instantly, and the flashing lights will show them exactly where you are."
