It was developed as part of the Missile Defense Agency's Ballistic Missile Defense System.
X-band radar frequency is used in defense, government, and commercial applications for air traffic control, weather monitoring, defense tracking, naval vessel traffic control, and vehicle speed detection for law enforcement.
The different types of radars used in these applications are as follows single-polarization, continuous wave, pulsed, dual-polarization, phased array, and synthetic aperture radars.
