  • LegalView Announces Car Seat Recall on its Auto Accident Portal

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 21, 2011 ) NEW YORK - LegalView, a leading online legal resource, has updated its auto accident portal regarding a recent car seat recall.

The Dorel Juvenile Group, a manufacturer of child safety seats, has announced that it is recalling nearly 80,000 child safety seats because they do not always lock properly.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), certain infant, convertible and booster child restraint systems that were made between May 2008 and April 2009 have been recalled. The seats were either sold separately or part of a travel travel system with a stroller.

The NHTSA said that the harness and release button do not always return to its locked position, leading to lose straps. During a car accident, the child would not be tightly fastened, which could lead to injuries.

As a result of the recall, Dorel will send customers a tube of lubricant that is designed to stop the seat belts from sticking and ensure that the harness buttons work properly.

Automobile accidents and those involving motorcycles or trucks are the leading cause of personal injury litigation. The impact of an accident can range from minor to major injuries or death. Usually, financial liability falls on the driver at fault, but if that driver has inadequate or lack of insurance, the victim could be entitled to a car accident settlement.

Car crashes are caused by several factors including distractions from talking on a cell phone or texting while driving. Also, the driver at fault may be intoxicated. Liquor liability could fall on someone serving alcohol to the intoxicated driver.

Additionally, sometimes car airbags do not deploy, resulting in unnecessary injuries. When this happens, it does not mean that the airbag is defective. However, a thorough investigation of the crash will determine whether or not the airbag was defective.

Airbag injuries are rare, but can occur when either the driver or passenger is sitting too close to the airbag or already in direct contact of the airbag when it deploys.

Car seat recalls could result in car accident settlement as many of these products have problems long before the public is made aware of them. LegalView offers individuals and their families' general information about car accidents.
