(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 04, 2012 ) Jacksonville, FL - Though auto insurance payment plans are undeniably convenient, that convenience comes at a price. When added up over a lengthy period of time, such as a year or more, that added cost can grow into quite a sum.
Recently, an informal investigation into the issue found a Florida woman who paid an additional $23.50 each month or a yearly total of $141 by going with monthly auto insurance payments. The painful irony is that the payment system is often relied on by those who can least afford to pay the extra cost.
Linda Sherry, spokesperson for Consumer Action, a consumer rights advocacy group, said, “It’s a good example of how the poor pay more.” However, thankfully, no one has called for a ban of auto insurance payment plans, a move that would place the cost of auto insurance out of the reach of a huge segment of American society.
