  • MBTA to activate countdown signs to let people know the exact time of trainÂ’s arrival reports BrightLEDSigns.com

(Transportation-News.com, September 07, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- The prolonged wait for the countdown signs is about to come to an end as MBTA will activate these signs on Wednesday at South Station.

The countdown time will appear on LED signs that have been installed or hung in waiting lobbies on platforms and this pilot program is expected to flourish to cover all 51 stations in a few months.

This innovative technology will stop the confusion of people about the timely arrival of trains and will have exact information about train’s arrival which will save them from frustration.

With the display of countdown signs on LEDs, the traditional atmosphere of Boston, with roots from the 19th century, will have a pleasant change which will be beneficial for many people.

Richard A, Davey, the State Secretary of Transportation, told Boston.com that these new countdown signs will facilitate people and will save them from the fidgeting that they have been facing over many years.

    He stated,

“I’m ecstatic that we’re announcing this. This is one of those items that I think customers have been asking for, waiting for, and wondering why we couldn’t do it for so long.”

The riders who use South Station are also happy with this advanced facility as they think that it will save their time and they will also avoid the fear of missing their train.

    A passenger Sandra Seal said,

“Now, you won’t have to wait 15 minutes. You can decide if you want to go out and do something and then come back, and not miss your train.”

This innovative technology has been in the priority plans of MTBA. It is now ready to be tested in a few hours and now riders will not have any trouble in knowing where there train is and exactly when will it arrive on station.
