  • Huge number of Sports Cars rusting away as Auction Department Disbanded reports A1AutoTransport.com

(Transportation-News.com, September 15, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- A massive number of sports cars are likely to remain in limbo as Greece’s auction department has been disbanded by the government. Earlier, numerous motorcycles had also been in a similar predicament in the wake, and the same is feared about those immensely valuable cars.

The Greece government is facing the worst era of recession. Most of the country’s departments have become a burden on its slumping economy. The Greece government was supporting the auction department for many years, but they have now pulled back from any further help of the department.

ODDY, the organization for public property, has failed to keep its head above the water due to the poor economy. The organization has created numerous problems for the state to satisfy foreign creditors. The state has taken the step to disband the auction department in order to save public money.

The ODDY has been suffering from economic losses for a decade. It was subsequently included in the list of unnecessary entities back in 2011.

Many in Greece believe that the OODY was essentially disbanded years before, as far as its operation system is concerned. They hold it was an organization merely in name and on the books, rather than in reality. The employees and the public expressed their disappointment over the closing of the auction department.

George Chronopoulos, who served in the same department and retired last year said, "I feel disappointed. This is not what we dreamed of. I used to love my job. But now I cannot find a reason to stay.”

Dimitris Kouvaris, who has been running this body since March said, "Our aim is to reduce spending, achieve better control of expenses and upgrade services,"

"Of course, we have technical and operational problems which we are trying to overcome, and also labour-related issues, since the workforce has been significantly reduced." said Kouvaris.
