(Transportation-News.com, September 17, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA - According to reports, a family of five moved 1,400 miles from New Hampshire to Florida for a better opportunity but found exactly the opposite.
Erinn Alberts, along with her husband and three kids, moved to Florida where she was offered a new job. The family faced a harsh reality as soon as they arrived in Florida. Their relocation specialist alerted them that the job Mrs. Albert had been promised was no longer available.
What was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity turned into a living nightmare for the family. The Alberts’ had sold everything they owned to make the move to Florida.
Award winning animation studio, Digital Domain, shed 280 jobs at their Florida offices after a loss of $111 million in the first half of 2012.
While speaking with WPTV, Alberts and her husband stated they were very excited when Erinn got a job offer as a Production Accountant from the Digital Domain that would pay $46,000 a year.
Alberts’ husband said, ‘She looks at me, she goes, "Honey, we're going. We're moving to Florida,”
They also told the news channel that they spent days preparing for the move and sold everything they had, including their house. They left New Hampshire with nothing besides each other, their clothes, and their car. They said they drove about 30 hours, and when they were about to reach their destination they received a message from a relocation specialist who told them to contact HR as the position is no longer available.
All they had left was $200. Mr. Alberts said that he is willing to do anything to save his family. He also stated he had a few choice words for the folks who put him and his family in this situation.
Alberts said, “Our hearts go out to the families who have been with this company for years.”
“I know Digital Domain is still going strong in some parts of the world. I hope they hear this, and know they kind of left a couple stranded.”
